Constitution Marsh Sanctuary is an irreplaceable habitat and provides refuge for birds, fish and other
wildlife of the Hudson River Estuary.
What to see at Constitution Marsh
Our mission at Constitution Marsh Sanctuary is twofold: to provide stewardship of this fragile wetland and to
teach others about it. We believe there is no substitute for a trip to the shoreline, where one can explore and
discover the river first hand. Our goal is to give all visitors, whatever their age, the opportunity to closely
observe river life and thus gain new insights into the natural world.
The Education Center is highlighted by a 500-gallon aquarium that allows visitors to come face to face with
fish, crabs and other wildlife. The center also serves as a departure point for visitors and provides a forum for Hudson River
stewardship
issues. In spring, it features the very popular "phoebe cam", a live video feed of nesting Eastern Phoebes.
Constitution Marsh Audubon Center and Sanctuary, a unique 270-acre tidal marsh, has been
managed by the National Audubon Society since 1970. This center is located in Putnam County, New York,
approximately 55 miles north of New York City. It is on the east side of the Hudson River two miles south
of the town of Cold Spring, and is directly opposite the West Point Military Academy.
Over 5,000 visitors participate in various educational programs and canoe trips provided by
the center. Please visit the links below to learn more about the Center's offerings.
